THE DOBSON TRAIL - New Brunswick

The means of transportation of the early settlers in New Brunswick began with a
humble collection of trails, which would later expand into a vast network following
massive immigration by Irish settlers. These paths of the Irish settlers in Albert
County New Brunswick are now difficult to find, but thanks to the Dobson Trail there
are some left for us to see.
Settlements like New Ireland, Kerry, Tehans Corner and Doyle Hill, had paths for both
commerce and leisure. These paths were a way of life and survival - a way of avoiding
a life in isolation.
The Dobson Hiking Trail plays a major role in keeping alive the history, culture and
heritage associated with the early Irish settlements in New Brunswick.
