Hastings and Prince Edward Children's Chorus

The Hastings and Prince Edward Children's Chorus, sponsored by the Hastings and
Prince Edward District School Board in Ontario, Canada, encompasses two choirs
drawing their choristers from an area 80 by 200 kms.
The Chamber Choir, primarily a training choir, consists of choristers from grades 5 to 8,
and the Youth Chorale, which is the touring choir, consists of choristers from grade 8 and up.
The choirs choirs are conducted by Rudolf Heijdens, assisted by Lynn Miller and accompanied by
Patricia Ross, Hester Suppanz, and Sarah Badgley. Many of the choristers have been with the chorus
for more than 7 years.
Since its formation in 1986, the choirs of the Chorus have been active
and received many awards and much acclaim in festivals, national and international competitions
(Vienna 2000 & 2003), concerts and workshops in both Canada and Europe. During 5 European tours,
the choristers have performed in Belgium, France, Germany, the Netherlands, and Austria. The Youth
Chorale has received invitations to perform in Carnegie Hall and Australia and is preparing for a tour
of the Netherlands in April and May 2005 to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the liberation of that
country by Canadian Forces. The repertoire includes both sacred and secular music from the classics
to the present day.
